Project name: Bryn Alyn School Extension
Summary:
£2m new 2 storey teaching currently being delivered on a Design and Build basis including the demolition of existing derelict block and refurbishment of adjacent teaching rooms all adjacent to the school main entrance.
Awarded by Wrexham Council through the North Wales Contractor Framework, this £2m Design and Build project is joint funded by the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools Programme and Wrexham County Borough Council.
The work will provide the school with five new classrooms, a large, flexible learning area and a refurbished home economics block.
Other improvements to the site include the provision of an open courtyard and a new pupil entrance and administration block.
The works on Ysgol Bryn Alyn are being undertaken as part of the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Education Programme which provides 50% of the funding for schools improvements.
Wrexham Council provide the remaining 50% of the funding required. The Programme aims to transform the learning experience of students ensuring they are taught in classrooms with the technologies and facilities needed to deliver a 21st Century curriculum.

Ysgol Bryn Alyn has worked with Read Construction on the building of our Science block and are currently working on a new building to the front of our school. We have an excellent working relationship with them and have been involved and supported since the planning stages. There is minimal disruption to the school day and at all times they consider the safety of our staff and pupils, scheduling traffic management and deliveries to a time when pupils are in lessons. Noise levels are kept to a minimum. There is always someone available on site to liaise with and discuss any issues that may affect the running of the school. The experience they have working with schools is evident as is their professionalism at all times.
