Construction of a new build link block, external improvements and associated internal refurbishments through a Partnered contract as part of the schools modernisation programme.

COLLABORATIVE – The early engagement of Read as Principal Contractor allowed early engagement of specialist key supply chain partners to the partnering team. The early inclusion of design and specification input from Structural Steelwork, Roofing, Mechanical and Electrical process experts ensured appropriate rationalisation of the brief to achieve the best whole life value for the scheme and overall delivery within the budget cost plan.

ENGAGING – Read identified and delivered a series of community benefit interactions throughout the construction phase which was focused on educational interactions around the core Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, career and industry promotion and targeted training and recruitment.

The eco committee at school were excited to have the opportunity to go on a tour of the new building. They were able to learn about how the building has been sourced and built with eco friendly methods in mind. They are busy working on their ideas for how some of the new areas can become an animal friendly habitat.

  • P. Ellwood, Sixth Form Director, Hawarden High School

We write to thank you for taking part in our Mock Interview event at Hawarden High School and your valuable contribution to the day.

For many students, this was the first interview process which they had taken part in, and they were very appreciative of the time taken to make them feel at ease.

The students found the interviews and the feedback extremely helpful as they go on to apply for jobs and complete their university personal statements.

  • Julie Parry, Work Related Learning Coordinator, Hawarden High School

On behalf of the school I would like to thank you for participating in the occupational talks programme for year 11.

These talks are a vital part of our Careers Education Programme and we aim to provide the students with impartial information regarding their options at the end of their period of compulsory education post 16.

The information that they gathered from attending the session with you has enabled them to make informed decisions about their chosen career and the pathway they need to take in order to achieve their goals.

The feedback that I have received from both staff and pupils was extremely positive. Students found the session to be very informative and interesting.
