Summary:
Extension to the manufacture facility of a British high-tech mass spectrometer producer. The extension involved major breaking through from new to existing and was completed without disruption to the client production timetable.
MAXIMUM VALUE – Although a traditional contract, Read’s team displayed a commitment to collaborative working and early engagement by working with the client and design team through the tender period to develop and refine the specification. This helped to improve the buildability and drive down capital and operational cost whilst maintaining quality.
CONSIDERATE – The client’s key driver to maintain operational efficiency of the hi-tech production environment throughout the extension works which incorporated some structural modifications to the existing frame within the production environment required meticulous planning and effective control. By engaging the client team in the planning process, Read programmed and delivered the works to the satisfaction of the client, without impacting on the production timetable.
AFTERCARE – Subsequent to the completion of the project, Read Small Works division have been engaged on two occasions to undertake further improvement works. The service and reactive nature of this department provides a valuable service to clients in attending to any ongoing additional needs.

Matthew has acted as an excellent project manager. His sense of fairness, knowledge and professionalism have served both Read and NU Instruments well. I do not doubt that this job must have been quite stressful at times for him but I have never seen that. He has consistently tackled tasks and milestones with enthusiasm and purpose. I have not found him wanting in any area, which reflects the opinion we have of the company he works for. We have now commissioned refurbishment and modifications work to our old unit and it is because of Read and their staff that I did not obtain comparison quotations, we just went with them.
