This is a dynamic, multifaceted role blending bid writing with support for marketing and community engagement activity. Working closely with our Bid Director and Engagement Manager, you’ll play a key role in crafting high‑quality qualitative bid content, while supporting the delivery of marketing initiatives and meaningful social value activity across the business.
This work winning role is fundamental to Read Construction’s continued sustainable expansion. Working independently under the direction of the Bid Director, the successful candidate will help shape our approach to bids, while supporting the ongoing delivery of marketing and engagement activity across the business. As the business grows, there will be opportunity for the role to evolve, broadening its remit and influence within the wider work winning function.
You’ll work across a wide range of live opportunities and sectors, collaborating with colleagues at all levels and helping to position the business through clear, client focused messaging. You’ll also have the chance to build your knowledge of procurement, social value and work winning best practice, with support from a collaborative team and a strong pipeline of work.

CoreDuties
Your key responsibilities will include assisting with:
- Bid writing – prepare, write and coordinate winning tenders, PQQs and framework submissions. Support with bid planning, document layout, content development and the overall format of submissions. Taking ownership of sections of qualitative submissions, developing clear, persuasive responses that reflect client drivers and Read Construction’s values, and helping to maintain a consistent narrative across the full submission.
- Marketing, social media & Website Support – supporting the management of company social media channels and assisting with the planning and delivery of regular professional content. Helping to maintain website content and support the production of marketing materials, working in line with agreed messaging and direction
- Community Engagement – supporting community engagement activities aligned with the business’s ESG commitments, working alongside the Engagement Manager and project teams. Assisting with relationship building with local education providers, employment support groups, charities and community organisations, and supporting the tracking, evaluation and reporting of social value outcomes. (Enhanced DBS check required).
A confident, adaptable communicator with the ability to craft clear, compelling written content.
Essential skills:
- Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Experience of Adobe Suite (including InDesign, Illustrator) and the Microsoft Office suite.
- IT competent
- Hold a full UK driving licence
Desirable skills:
- Experience preparing bids or proposals, ideally within the construction sector.
- Knowledge of social value frameworks (e.g., TOMs, Social Value Portal).
- Experience organising community events or public consultations.
- Understanding of the UK construction industry and procurement processes.
- Welsh speaking is advantageous but not essential.
