We are delighted to announce that two standout Denbighshire projects have been recognised at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2025, highlighting the innovation, quality and community impact delivered across the region.
Hwb Arloesi, Llysfasi – National Award Winner
The Hwb Arloesi (Innovation Hub) at Llysfasi College has been named Winner of the Best Public or Community Building at this year’s national finals. The state‑of‑the‑art facility was commended for its exceptional sustainability credentials, thoughtful design, and seamless integration into the rural landscape. The project sets a new benchmark for public buildings in Wales, combining advanced educational spaces with wellbeing and recreational facilities to support future generations.
The judges praised the project for its ambition and delivery, noting:
“This project exemplifies excellence in sustainable design and collaborative construction to deliver a carbon-neutral [building] which integrates educational spaces with wellbeing and recreational facilities.”
This recognition reflects the hard work, expertise and partnership of everyone involved in bringing this visionary scheme to life.
Llys Awelon, Ruthin – Highly Commended
We are also proud to share that Llys Awelon in Ruthin, Denbighshire has been awarded Highly Commended in the Best Large Social Housing Development category. This project was celebrated for its commitment to delivering high‑quality, modern, and supportive living accommodation for older residents, further strengthening community provision within the region.
The redevelopment forms an important part of ongoing efforts to create inclusive, sustainable housing solutions that enable residents to live independently while staying connected to essential support and community networks.
