As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, Read Construction is proud to spotlight one of our newest apprentices, Ethan Jones, who joined us in September as an Apprentice Joiner. Ethan is embarking on an exciting career journey with Read, following in the footsteps of his father, Eilian Jones, who also started his career here as an Apprentice Joiner back in 1996.
Eilian, now a successful Site Manager, has built an impressive career with Read over nearly three decades. Reflecting on his journey, he shared:
“I started at Read at the age of 16 and have worked up to a site manager role. With the help from all at Read, I have come a long way. Now 29 years later, history is repeating itself with my son.”
Eilian’s story is a testament to Read’s commitment to nurturing talent and supporting career progression. Through our in-house training programs and dedication to continued professional development, Eilian evolved from an apprentice joiner into a site manager responsible for overseeing multi-million-pound projects.
At Read, we strongly believe in fostering the next generation of skilled professionals. Currently, 11% of our workforce is enrolled in a formal apprenticeship, and an impressive 31% of our employees began their journey with Read as an apprentice. This highlights our commitment to investing in talent and providing meaningful career pathways within the construction industry.
Karen Heaton-Morris, Director, said:
“We are strong believers in employing the right people for our company, and supporting their growth and development through regular training, mentoring, and opportunities, allowing them to flourish and progress.”
As Ethan embarks on his journey, we look forward to seeing him develop his skills and grow within the company, just as his father did. His story demonstrates the opportunities available at Read and highlights the value of apprenticeships in shaping the future of construction.
