Supporting the Next Generation: Read Construction Champions T-Level Student Development
At Read Construction, we recognise the importance of supporting the next generation of construction professionals by offering meaningful, hands-on experience to students through T-Level Industry Placements. Most recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Thomas Robinson, a T-Level student from Cheshire College – South & West, to complete a 315-hour Industry Placement
Thomas gained a broad insight into the construction industry during his time at Read, , spending time with our Design department, Health and Safety team, and Site Managers, gaining real-world experience across multiple areas of the business.
Seeing Thomas’ passion for design, we were also pleased to facilitate visits to several architectural practices, helping Thomas explore the wider network of the industry and broaden his understanding even further.
Reflecting on his time with us, Thomas said:
“I have greatly enjoyed my placement with Read Construction, it’s been a really interesting and exciting experience. Especially by having a live Read site here at College, which I have seen develop from just a car park to nearly a fully constructed building. Read have also given me experience at their head office and experience at their other sites. As well as this, Read has provided me with the chance to visit various architects’ practices, allowing me to explore the construction industry further. Because of the time I have spent at these places, Read have helped me complete the required work experience hours for my course, which has been a great help.”
Cheshire College – South & West also shared their appreciation:
“This significant placement has really helped Thomas to build on his knowledge and understanding of this industry. He has demonstrated immense dedication, professionalism and insight into the project which has made him an asset. We would like to say a massive thank you to Read Construction for being so supportive and we hope to continue our wonderful working relationship with them for years to come.”
At Read, we believe in the power of mentorship and the importance of industry experience in shaping future careers. Kasia Williamson, Improvement and Engagement Manager at Read Construction, commented:
“We are delighted to have supported Thomas as part of his T-Level course. Providing opportunities like this not only helps students gain valuable, real-world experience, but also allows us to play an active role in developing the future workforce of the construction industry. We look forward to continuing our support for T-Level students in the future.”
