Summary:
Traditional construction of a new teaching block (the “Gerard Building”) with link to existing building including extended and refurbishment changing rooms.
MODERN – The school was able to secure Academy Capital funding to finance a new teaching block with nine new classrooms in the Gerard Building which are used for teaching Modern Foreign Languages and one classroom dedicated for Physical Education. The Sports Hall now has a gym and dance studio as well as beautiful changing rooms and showers.
ENGAGING – To enable the staff and students to become familiar with the new block and improve the transition process, Read held a series of guided visits to the site during the construction process and gave presentations on career options within construction sector and on the eco credentials of the modern construction process.
RESPONSIVE – The incorporation of additional works, presented a challenge for the site delivery team in facilitating the additions within the original programme. By undertaking collaborative programming exercises with the supply chain, designers and client team, programme saving opportunities were identified and delivered that resulted in the £250k additional works being delivered within the original contract period.
