We are thrilled to announce the promotion of four of our team to the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor. Congratulations Andrew Kirkham, Chris Evans, Chris Palmer and Ian Jones!

Andrew joined Read as a Junior Quantity Surveyor back in 2015 from a PQS background. Andrew sought a Contractor QS position to gain more hands-on experience and be part of the process in physically seeing projects come to life. Through on-the-job learning and the Read internal mentorship programme, Andrew rapidly progressed and has recently led several high-profile healthcare and education projects across North Wales and the Northwest. Now a senior member of our team, Andrew will lead the commercial delivery of projects across the region.

During deployment from the Army, Chris Evans initially joined Read on work experience, as part of an initiative to help members of the armed forces transition into civilian life. Chris’ eagerness to learn and approachable personality was instantly apparent, and he was immediately offered a place on the Read Graduate scheme, quickly finding his focus in Quantity Surveying. Over recent years Chris has played a key role in delivering a number of high-profile early contractor involvement projects, such as the new Welsh Medium School in Flint. Moving forward, Chris will support the business in bringing forward projects of this nature, playing a key role during the pre-construction period.

Chris Palmer entered the construction sector as a joiner, progressing to Apprentice QS, before joining Read as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in 2015. Since joining, Chris has developed both his Quantity Surveying and Estimating capabilities across a broad range of project sectors and scales. Most recently Chris has led several complex design and build education projects across the region including the New Teaching Hub at Llysfasi for Coleg Cambria and our award-winning passivhaus teaching block for Shropshire County Council.

With a non-construction related degree and after spending six months on site as a site operative, Ian officially joined Read’s graduate scheme in 2013 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. In the last few years Ian has played a crucial role in Read’s expansion into the supported living sector, with the delivery of numerous successful projects for regional clients. Championing Read’s RICS presence, Ian will continue to support and mentor many of our current and future trainees to gain their chartership status.

We are proud of their individual career journeys to date and are delighted that all four will play a pivotal role in our future success and in developing the next generation of Quantity Surveyors at Read.
