Wrexham based building contractor, Read Construction, has showcased its commitment to the next generation by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.
The aim of the campaign is to tackle both the chronic skills shortage and youth unemployment in Britain and help the country remain at the forefront of innovation. It also asks members to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report.
Read have joined the initiative as part of their ongoing commitment to supporting young people to get a head start in their career. The company’s current work placement programme has historically proven a success, with 54% of head office management staff being directly employed by the company following positive placements.

As a company, we recognise the challenges that young people face with unemployment, and we are committed to tackling this issue through increasing our placement, apprentice and graduate opportunities here at Read,” commented Kasia Pugh, Improvement and Engagement Manager.
