Summary:
Construction of the new ‘Elephants of the Asian Forest’ on and off show breeding facility completed over 2 phases to replace the existing outgrown elephant house.
CONSIDERATE – With a wealth of expertise in delivering projects within occupied enclosures / live environments, Read’s delivery team appreciate the need for sensitive construction practices to avoid undue stress to sensitive animals. This project was split into 2 phases to ensure the continuation of appropriate habitat areas for the elephants during the construction period.
EFFECTIVE LIAISON – Key to successful project delivery is effective liaison and communication with all stakeholders. By working with the zoo design team and the elephant keepers, Read addressed all issues to ensure smooth project delivery to programme, including management of the client’s appointed multi-lingual specialist theming contractors.
Working within the Zoo environment presents many constraints, which cannot be resolved without fully understanding the complexity and needs of such a unique client; having worked with Read on a number of projects over many years, that understanding and commitment to deliver has always been fully appreciated.
Read’s team working ethos and proactive approach is central to the success of projects and working with Read and their supply chain gives me confidence in delivering safe and well considered projects. The experience gained with Read’s collaborative working has enhanced the ability of teams to deliver excellence.
