Project
Synopsis

Contract: JCT D&B 2016

Value: £2,700,000

Duration: 39 weeks

Summary:

Design and Build scheme to provide off-pitch accomodation and support facilities including activation areas, learning suites and changing facilities, in addition to two top quality grass pitches and a FIFA quality 3G pitch.

MODERN FACILITIES – Delivered through a JCT D&B contract with early engagement of key supply parnters, Read worked in partnership with the Football Assocation of Wales, Glyndŵr University and Lawray Architects to deliver this prestigious project at Colliers Park, Gresford. Colliers Park is the new elite football training facility that refurbished an existing outdated facility and married it with a substantial modern extension comprising, dedicated player zone, analysis rooms, impressive changing rooms and state of the art medical facilities, coaching suites and gymnasium.

DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION – We deployed drone technologies and imagery to produce site wide 3D modelled progress updates and cut / fill volume calculations. The information was shared with our supply chain, design and client teams to improve transparency of progress reporting and cost data.

The centre further benefits Welsh football nationally and locally by delivering accessible and high-class training facilities for talented young players and the wider football workforce in North Wales.

The training facility includes:

  • two top quality grass pitches;
  • a FIFA quality 3G pitch;
  • in addition to, off pitch support facilities including activation areas, learning suites and changing facilities.

  • Sarah Powell, CEO - Sports Wales

    Sport Wales is delighted to be supporting a facility that will enable talented boys and girls to enjoy training and playing football in a high-quality environment and support them as they strive to progress. This is an exciting development for North Wales and we hope that women and girls in particular will benefit from the Centre and that the region’s strong tradition of developing young footballers is enhanced further.

  • Jonathan Ford, Chief Executive - Football Association of Wales

    It has been evident from the beginning, and as we now step back and admire your finished work, that you have sought to apply the highest standards in both the design and construction of building and pitches. On top of this your customer service and responsiveness have been top quality.

    Most important the project was completed within our planned timescale and you have all worked hard with us along the way to achieve this, whilst keeping the costs competitive and to the minimum required without compromise.

    Everyone who visits or uses the facility has been impressed and we are very proud of our new National Centre in Wrexham.

    A big thank you and congratulations to you all on your unique contributions, expertise and diligence in delivering a successful project for the FAW.
