Summary:
One of five projects secured by Read as part of Glanbia Cheese’s 4 year, £7m investment plan to remain at the forefront of Cheese production was the construction of a new Amenity building.
CONSIDERATE – The production facility remained fully operational throughout the construction period with efficiency sustaining zero adverse impact. Works internally were planned around the annual summer plant shutdown when additional resources were programmed to deliver maximum construction works during the client shutdown period. This efficient and collaborative programming ensured the project was completed on programme with ZERO adverse impact on the client’s primary business activity.
EFFECTIVE PLANNING – Logistic planning of the construction traffic around the delivery and staff traffic movements and peak times was an essential element of the effective site delivery that led to a successful working relationship. Through close liaison and regular sharing of programmes and planning schedules, all traffic and pedestrian movements in and around the production facility were fully considered and managed throughout the construction period.
It has been a real pleasure to work with Read on the construction of our new Amenity Building. Despite early problems encountered with poor ground conditions, both we, the client and design teams valued Read’s proactive approach which enabled solutions to be found and agreed in a timely manner. Their professionalism meant that they could effortlessly adapt to working within what is an extremely busy factory environment. During the shutdown of the factory’s production lines, which is an extremely stressful time for us, Read were able to complete sections of the contract works and additional works awarded within our strict constraints and timescales. Despite the wintery cold weather of November, no time was lost as Read ensured that the project was completed on time. We found Read to be honest and hardworking and would have no hesitation in recommending them to other potential developers.

During the construction of our recently completed Amenity Building I established a good working relationship with Read’s site manager. His knowledge and experience ensured a smooth and safe running site. I found him very approachable and extremely helpful at all times. This enabled me to liaise closely with him on an almost daily basis which ensured that the finished building was aligned with both our needs and expectations.
