Summary:
This project involved the construction of a new steel portal frame structure to house a sports hall on ground level with viewing galleries to the upper level.

LEAN CONSTRUCTION – By deploying the LEAN construction principles of “”Right First Time”” and sequential inspection, built in quality was delivered throughout the project. These principles, now embedded as standard operating procedures, resulted in the project being awarded LABC North West award for Quality delivery 2015.
RESPONSIVE – When a pool filtration design issue threatened the successful completion of the project to programme near the end of the project, Read demonstrated their responsive nature by mobilising plant and personnel to resolve the requirement for extended pool continuation tanks within 1 week of identification of the issue.

We were kept informed throughout the build and Greg liaised very closely with us on the management of the project. Any issues we had were quickly resolved. As a special school the students’ sensitivities were considered and allowances made for them. Greg attended our school council meetings and organised a ‘Time Capsule’ to be buried in the grounds of the new building which was a lovely, special event for the students.
