Summary:
This new build within the central concourse of Chester Racecourse created a year-round high quality family restaurant to cater for both event visitors and the general public. The client’s key quality deliverable is reflected in the bespoke design and high quality finishes.
IMPACT FREE – Chester racecourse is a year-round event destination. To avoid the peak race season, the construction was delivered over winter, which presented different challenges in terms of adverse weather and the clients ‘Winter Wonderland’ event. To negate impact during the events, Read engaged with the client team to sequence the works, and agree an access and segregation strategy – resulting in no negative impact.
BESPOKE DESIGN – High quality bespoke design and robust specification generally lead to high cost, but through early engagement of key supply chain partners, Read team was able to propose alternatives that adhered to the performance requirements, met the architectural and aesthetic requirements but resulted in better value in terms of capital investment and operational efficiency. This best whole life value principle was applied to the subcontract packages that included contractor design elements.
